Enhanced Security

Cybertheft has become an increasing concern, especially when so many of us use open wifi networks to access sensitive information. StarLaw includes multiple levels of security to protect sensitive information, both inside the StarLaw Suite and in the way that information is transmitted to and from StarLaw servers.

Inside StarLaw, file access can be controlled by both individual users and system administrators. Users can control access to individual sensitive documents by designating them as “private,” locking out access to all but invited users and top-level system administrators. Administrators, in turn, can limit access to classes of documents on an individual user or group basis.

At the system level, all user interaction with StarLaw takes place with StarLaw’s proprietary kernel, not the underlying databases that store and index information. In fact, users lack permission to access the databases and repositories directly, closing these avenues of cyber attack. As a further benefit, even if StarLaw’s proprietary communication protocols are sniffed over a network connection, they cannot easily be deconstructed by would-be hackers who are looking for ODBC calls and other common format network traffic.

At the individual workstation or laptop computer level, StarLaw’s offline local file repositories are encrypted and accessible only through the password controlled StarLaw system. Even in the event of hardware theft, these files remain secured unless subjected to the most rigorous brute force password hacking attacks.
