Remote Access

More and more work is being performed outside traditional business locations, whether home offices or remote hotel rooms or even while traveling between destinations. StarLaw controlled content is there as well.  Lawyers don’t need to be connected to their network to access the files they need.

Legal professionals can remotely access the full StarLaw client and its integrated application functionality through Citrix or Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection, but StarLaw has also developed a full .NET API that permits StarLaw to be integrated into a variety of web-based portals. StarLaw has been successfully integrated into Microsoft SharePoint sites, and other specific integrations are in active development.

For situations where Internet connectivity is not available, StarLaw is also available in offline mode. StarLaw automatically updates its local user specific cache with recently accessed files, and users can also select entire client matters or search results for offline access. Changes to any of these files automatically synchronize upon reconnection to a network though which the StarLaw server can be accessed. StarLaw also provides advanced document contention logic to prevent data from being lost when two users need to work on the same document at the same time. Productivity is enhanced, and work product risk is minimized. From the user perspective, StarLaw offline access looks and performs identically to when the personal computer is in communication with a StarLaw server.
