StarLaw Suite 3.0

Document Management

Finding work product quickly is a key part of successfully maintaining a law firm’s information. However, many attorneys don’t have time or interest in learning the complicated profiling systems and search screens that many document management systems require. As a result, users enter the least information required—sometimes none—minimizing the value they and their organization can receive from its investment.

StarLaw is different. Yes, StarLaw’s document management functionality provides efficient access to old and new documents alike, whether users are searching on document content or within document metadata stored within the StarLaw database. However, StarLaw also integrates tightly with end-user applications like Microsoft Word and Excel so users aren’t faced with daunting profile screens (unless they want to see them).

In addition, StarLaw's user driven input logic permits StarLaw to rapidly learn user patterns and apply them proactively, by default when new documents are saved to the system. The net result? Users may have to enter as little information as the document's name, letting StarLaw fill everything else, including author name, client/matter information, document type, and other metadata that powers a successful document management database.

StarLaw is fully scalable. A single StarLaw server can easily hold and index hundreds of thousands of work product files, supporting the needs of both small and large firms. In addition, new servers and capacity can be added invisibly to users, with minimal system downtime, to increase the storage capacity of a StarLaw system from hundreds of thousands to tens of millions of documents.
